Steel Structure made in Düren for Race Track in Abu Dhabi
In 2009 the first Formula 1 Grand Prix will take place on the new Yas Marina Curcuit in Abu Dhabi.
Yas Marina Circuit combines modern comforts with tradition and culture of Abu Dhabi by connecting technical highlights with an architecture reflecting the history of the country.
The steel structures of the different grand stands are forming the basis for the membrane roofs designed in the style of typical Bedouin tents. The Main Grandstand offers 7.000 seats and opposite you find the Pit Building with 40 garages for the racing teams. Approximately 50.000 spectators can view the races. West, North and South Grandstand offer different spectacular views. The Media Center provides room for 600 jurnalists from all over the world.
The Grandstands and other buildings are 400 to 600 m long. The steel structure was fabricated in Germany and shipped by container ships to Abu Dhabi. Temperatures of over 40° C, desert sand and a high humidity make the work difficult. With a permanent team of 8 engineers and site managers on location, Stahlbau Queck can guaranty a completion in time.
Yas Marina Circuit is the biggest ever realized individual job in the history of the company. It is for shure that 150 staff members of our company will watch the Formula 1 Race on TV on the 1st of November, no matter if a fan of motor sports or not. And at the same time people around the whole world will see Steelstructure made in Düren.
