The ground-breaking ceremony for hangar 7 at Düsseldorf International Airport took place at the 7th, April 2008.
The dimensions of the hanger add up to 227 meter length, 95 meter width and 31 meter height. The hanger offers space for three wide-bodied aircrafts at the same time. Thus the aeroplane hangar is the biggest in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Further more a two-storeyed outbuilding with store rooms, lounges and breakrooms as well as a four-storeyed office building with engineering area in the basement and the main entrance to the airport ground was built.
The buildings come up to a total of 37.000 m² gross floor area.
Five main binder with a length of 90 meter/each and a weight of 2500 tons/each overdraw the hanger in 31 meter height. The whole tonnage comes up to 3.800 tons of steel.
